They say dogs are man’s best friend and indeed, they are. I have always loved dogs since I was a kid. Whenever I see one, I would immediately play with it. On my 9th birthday, my Mom gave me a little shih tzu. I named it after my favourite chocolate bar, Hershey. Hershey was such a cute doggie and I used to bring her wherever I went. Unfortunately, she met an accident when she was 10 years old. It happened last year while I was away for college. I wanted to bring her with me but no pets were allowed in our dormitory. My Mom told me that Hershey went out of the house while she was busy mowing our lawn. She absentmindedly forgot to close the door and was not aware that my younger sister, Jamie, was playing with Hershey at that time. Jamie said that Hershey ran to the door when he saw a green Mazda 2, the same as mine. She must have missed me so much. The moment she stepped on the road, she got hit by an incoming car. The driver was so shocked but good thing he was able to stir the wheels just in time. Only Hershey’s foot was damaged. They brought her to the vet and the doctor gave him a dog wheelchair. Though sad with what happened, I am still thankful my Hershey is still alive. She may be crippled but the wheelchair really did a great job helping her walk.
